The order specifies this award is for the headquarters unit only. Service units and individuals assigned to Service units in support of this organization are not eligible for this award. This permanent order was uploaded to the applicant's interactive Personnel Electronic Records Management System file. 5. Army Regulation 635-5 (Separations Documents) at the time prescribed the separation documents prepared for Soldiers upon retirement, discharge, or release from active military service or control of the Army. It establishes standardized policy for preparation of the DD Form 214. It states the DD Form 214 is a synopsis of the Soldier's most recent period of continuous active service. It provides a brief, clear-cut record of active Army service at the time of release from active duty, retirement, or discharge. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: The evidence shows Headquarters, Combined Joint Interagency Task Force 435, was awarded the JMUA for service during a period the applicant was assigned to this unit. However, the award was announced after his DD Form 214 had been prepared and issued. Therefore, it would be appropriate to correct his DD Form 214 at this time by adding award of the JMUA.
