THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE:

1.  Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any).

2.  Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any).


THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE:

1.  The applicant requests the removal of a Statement of Military Service Memorandum dated 15 April 2008 and a Certificate of Completion dated 17 July 2008 from his Official Military Personnel File (OMPF).

2.  The applicant states that the Statement of Military Service Memorandum dated 14 April 2008 is a duplicate and he never went on Recruiting Duty so the Certificate of Completion dated 17 July 2008 should be removed from his OMPF.

3.  The applicant provides no additional documents with his application.

CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE:

1.  The applicant was serving in the U.S. Army Reserve as a cargo handler when he enlisted in the Regular Army in the pay grade of E-4 on 30 November 1993 for a period of 3 years.  He has remained on active duty through a series of continuous reenlistments and was promoted to the pay grade of E-7 on 1 April 2006.

2.  The applicant attended and completed the Army Recruiter Course at Fort Jackson, SC on 18 July 2008.  His official photograph shows him wearing the Army Recruiter Badge.



3.  The applicant’s official records contain three Statements of Military Service Memoranda dated 28 April 2007 (prepared in Kuwait), 15 April 2008 (prepared at Fort Eustis, VA), and 7 March 2012 (prepared in Kuwait).  The difference between the 28 April 2007 and 15 April 2008 Statement of Military Service is the supporting unit listed.

DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:

1.  The applicant’s contention that the Statement of Military Service Memorandum dated 15 April 2008 and a Certificate of Completion dated 17 July 2008 should be removed from his OMPF has been noted and found to lack merit.

2.  Although he may never have recruited, the applicant fails to provide evidence to show he did not complete the Army Recruiter Course on 18 July 2008, and he is wearing an Army Recruiting Badge in his official photograph.  His completion certificate is properly filed in his OMPF. 

3.  The Statement of Military Service Memorandum dated 15 April 2008 is not a duplicate of another statement of service.

4.  Both of those documents are properly filed in his OMPF and he has failed to show an error or injustice associated with their being filed in his official records.

5.  The Army has an interest in maintaining the integrity of its records and the applicant has failed to provide evidence to show that the information contained in his records is incorrect.  Accordingly, there appears to be no basis to grant his request.
