IN THE CASE OF: BOARD DATE: 9 December 2013 DOCKET NUMBER: AR20130001307 THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE: 1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any). 2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any). THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant requests correction of her DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty), ending on 7 August 2012, to show her date of entry as 30 March 2010 and her time in service. 2. The applicant states her DD Form 214 incorrectly shows she entered active duty (AD) in October 2010 when in fact she entered on 30 March 2010. 3. The applicant provides a copy of her DD Form 4/3 (Enlistment Document). CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE: 1. Her DD Form 4/3, as provided by the applicant and filed in her Army Military Human Resource Record (AMHRR) shows that she enlisted in the Regular Army for a period of 3 years and 26 weeks. She took her AD enlistment oath on 30 March 2010 and all parties to the enlistment signed the document that same day. 2. The applicant was discharged on 7 August 2012. 3. The applicant's DD Form 214 shows: a. Item 12a (Date Entered AD This Period): 2010 10 30; b. Item 12b (Separation Date This Period): 2012 08 07; and c. Item 12c (Net Active Service This Period): 0001 09 08. 4. Army Regulation 635-5 (Separation Documents) provides detailed instructions for completing separation documents, including the DD Form 214. The DD Form 214 is a summary of a Soldier's most recent period of continuous active duty. It provides a brief, clear-cut record of active duty service at the time of release from active duty, retirement, or discharge, to include dates of entry, separation and net period of service. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: 1. The available evidence clearly shows that the applicant entered active duty on 30 March 2010. She served on AD until 7 August 2012. She completed 2 years, 4 months, and 8 days of creditable AD service. 2. Accordingly, her DD Form 214 should be corrected to show her correct date of entry and net AD service.
