THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant requests correction of his DD Form 214 (Armed Forces of the United States Report of Transfer or Discharge) to show he served in Korea and Vietnam. 2. The applicant states Block 30 (Remarks) does not show Indochina and Korea service. He adds he needs this information corrected in order to submit a claim to the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) for Agent Orange exposure. 3. The applicant provides no additional information. CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant was inducted into the Army of the United States (AUS) on 7 April 1970. Following training at Fort Gordon, GA, he was awarded military occupational specialty (MOS) 05C (Radio Teletype Operator(RTO)) and transferred to Okinawa. 2. In Okinawa, the applicant was assigned to Company E, 1st Special Forces (SF) Group, 1st SF. His service records – to include his DA Form 20 (Enlisted Qualification Record – fails to indicate Korea or Vietnam service. There are no orders in his service records showing he was temporarily assigned to Korea or Vietnam. 3. The applicant's service records contain no service awards unique to Korea or Vietnam. His DA Form 20 only shows award of the National Defense Service Medal. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: 1. The applicant was an RTO assigned to 1st SF Group in Okinawa. 1st SF Group Soldiers often were sent on temporary duty to Vietnam or Korea; however, there are no records available to show such was the case for the applicant. 2. Without proof he served in Korea or Vietnam, the requested correction cannot be made.
