CONSIDERATION OF ADDITIONAL EVIDENCE:

7.  On 14 May 2012, the applicant submitted a new DD Form 149 (Application for Correction of Military Record Under the Provisions of Title 10, U.S. Code, Section 1552) in regard to the decision of the Army Board for Correction of Military Records (ABCMR) in Docket Number AR20100026036, dated 5 May 2011, wherein he stated his military occupational specialty (MOS) (interpreted to mean "related civilian occupation"), as corrected by the ABCMR, is still incorrect.

ADDITIONAL DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS:

5.  At the time of the decision of the ABCMR in Docket Number AR20100026036, dated 5 May 2011, it was the intent of the ABCMR to make the applicant’s record as administratively correct as it should properly have been at the time.

6.  The ABCMR's decision in Docket Number AR20100026036 determined that he served as a Surgical Technician in MOS 0861.  Accordingly, his corresponding "related civilian occupation" should have been corrected to read "Surgical Technician."  However, due to an administrative error, it was erroneously corrected to read "Medical Technician."  Therefore, it would be appropriate to further correct item 5 (Qualifications) of his DD Form 214 to show the related civilian occupation associated with his MOS was that of "Surgical Technician."

2.  The Board determined that all Department of the Army records related to this case be corrected by amending the Board’s recommendation appearing in ABCMR Docket Number AR20100026036 dated 5 May 2011 by amending paragraph b to read:

   b. adding to item 5 of his 30 April 1953 DD Form 214 the entries “0861” and "Surgical Technician."
