IN THE CASE OF: BOARD DATE: 3 May 2011 DOCKET NUMBER: AR20100029469 THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE: 1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any). 2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any). THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant requests the orders awarding him the Army Aviator Badge and the revocation of those orders be removed from his official military personnel file (OMPF). 2. The applicant states he is a ground warrant officer with military occupational specialty (MOS) 151A (Aviation Maintenance Technician). Upon graduation from the Aviation Warrant Officer Basic Course at Fort Rucker, AL, he was erroneously awarded the Army Aviator Badge. He requested to have the orders revoked and now both the orders awarding the badge and the revocation orders are filed in his OMPF. He attempted to have these orders removed from his OMPF and on his third attempt he was advised to seek relief from the Army Board for Correction of Military Records (ABCMR). 3. The applicant provides: * orders awarding him the Army Aviator Badge * orders revoking the Army Aviator Badge CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE: 1. He is currently a chief warrant officer two serving on active duty in MOS 151A. He attended the Aviation Warrant Officer Basic Course at Fort Rucker, AL, from 17 October to 2 December 2005 as a warrant officer one in MOS 151A. 2. Headquarters, U.S. Army Aviation Center and Fort Rucker, Fort Rucker, AL issued: * Orders 326-120, dated 22 November 2005, awarding him the Army Aviator Badge and Aeronautical Designation of Army Aviator * Orders 327-108, dated 23 November 2005, revoking Orders 326-120 DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: 1. He attended the Aviation Warrant Officer Course with an MOS of 151A. Therefore, award of the Army Aviator Badge and Aeronautical Designation of Army Aviator were obviously issued in error and were immediately revoked the following day. 2. The erroneous orders and the revocation of those orders were the result of administrative errors. These orders hold no historical value in documenting the applicant's military career. Therefore, it would be appropriate to remove these orders and revocation orders from the applicant's OMPF. As a result, the Board recommends that all Department of the Army records of the individual concerned be corrected by removing the following orders issued by Headquarters, U.S. Army Aviation Center and Fort Rucker, Fort Rucker, AL, from his OMPF: * Orders 326-120, dated 22 November 2005, awarding him the Army Aviator Badge and Aeronautical Designation of Army Aviator * Orders 327-108, dated 23 November 2005, revoking Orders 326-120 __________X____________ CHAIRPERSON I certify that herein is recorded the true and complete record of the proceedings of the Army Board for Correction of Military Records in this case.
