IN THE CASE OF: BOARD DATE: 6 January 2011 DOCKET NUMBER: AR20100018083 THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE: 1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any). 2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any). THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant requests that his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) be corrected to reflect that his primary military occupational specialty (MOS) was that of 91P1O (Radiology Specialist) instead of MOS 68R1O (Veterinary Food Inspection Specialist) as currently reflected on his DD Form 214. 2. The applicant states his DD Form 214 incorrectly reflects that he was veterinary specialist when in fact he was always a radiology specialist. He goes on to state that it was an obvious error and he desires it to be corrected because it affects his ability to prove his work experience. 3. The applicant provides a copy of his DD Form 214, a copy of his diploma for completion of the radiology specialist course, and two third-party letters. CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant enlisted in the Regular Army in Los Angeles, California, on 6 July 2004 for a period of 6 years and training as a radiology specialist. 2. He successfully completed his training as a radiology specialist at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, on 15 September 2005 and was awarded MOS 91P1O. He was transferred to the William Beaumont Army Medical Center at Fort Bliss, Texas, for his first and only duty assignment. 3. He continued to serve until he was discharged on 15 July 2009. His DD Form 214 reflects in block 11 (Primary Specialty) that his primary MOS was "68R1O Veterinary Food Inspector." DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: 1. The applicant's contentions have been noted and found to have merit. The applicant's MOS was 91P1O and an administrative error resulted in his DD Form 214 reflecting that his MOS was 68R1O. 2. Accordingly, he is entitled to have block 11 of his DD Form 214 corrected to reflect his primary specialty as "91P1O Radiology Specialist." BOARD VOTE: ___X____ ____X___ ____X___ GRANT FULL RELIEF ________ ________ ________ GRANT PARTIAL RELIEF ________ ________ ________ GRANT FORMAL HEARING ________ ________ ________ DENY APPLICATION BOARD DETERMINATION/RECOMMENDATION: The Board determined the evidence presented is sufficient to warrant a recommendation for relief. As a result, the Board recommends that all Department of the Army records of the individual concerned be corrected by showing his primary MOS as "91P1O Radiology Specialist" instead of "68R1O Veterinary Food Inspection Specialist" as currently reflected. _______ _ _X_____ ___ CHAIRPERSON I certify that herein is recorded the true and complete record of the proceedings of the Army Board for Correction of Military Records in this case.
