THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant requests correction of items 12a (Date Entered AD [Active Duty] This Period) and 12c (Net Active Service This Period) on his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) for the period ending 31 March 2007. 2. The applicant states item 12a should be corrected to show he entered active duty on 26 May 2002 and item 12c should be corrected to show he completed 4 years, 10 months, and 5 days. 3. The applicant provides: * DD Form 214 for the period ending 31 March 2007 * Active duty orders CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE: 1. Having prior enlisted service in the Regular Army and inactive service in the Army National Guard, the applicant was appointed a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve on 25 May 2002. Orders show he was ordered to active duty effective 26 May 2002 for an active duty commitment of 4 years. He served in Iraq from 15 August 2005 to 1 December 2006. On 31 March 2007, he was honorably discharged in the rank of captain for miscellaneous/general reasons. 2. Item 12a on the applicant's DD Form 214 for the period ending 31 March 2007 shows the entry "1997 09 05" [5 September 1997]. Item 12c on this DD Form 214 shows he completed 4 years and 10 months of active duty. 3. Records show the following: 2007 03 30 Applicant's separation date (31 always changed to 30) - 2002 05 26 Date applicant entered active duty = 4 10 4 Net service for this period + 1 4 10 5 DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: 1. The active duty orders provided by the applicant which show he was ordered to active duty on 26 May 2002 are accepted as sufficient evidence on which to amend item 12a on his DD Form 214 for the period ending 31 March 2007. 2. Evidence of record shows the applicant entered active duty on 26 May 2002 and he was discharged on 31 March 2007, a total of 4 years, 10 months, and 5 days. Therefore, item 12c on his DD Form 214 for the period ending 31 March 2007 should be corrected to show he completed 4 years, 10 months, and 5 days.
