IN THE CASE OF: BOARD DATE: 15 April 2010 DOCKET NUMBER: AR20090017997 THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE: 1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any). 2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any). THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant requests reconsideration of his earlier request for correction of his military records to show he was awarded military occupational specialty (MOS) 45J (Aircraft Armament Repairman) and that he was awarded the Air Crewman Badge [formerly known as the Aircraft Crew Member Badge and now known as the Basic Aviation Badge]. 2. The applicant states that he believes the administration section simply did not have the time to record the orders. 3. The applicant provides, in support of his application, copies of Special Orders Number 291, dated 18 October 1970; Special Orders Number 24, dated 26 January 1971; and an undated DA Form 2496-1, subject: Aircrew Orientation. CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE: 1. Incorporated herein by reference are military records which were summarized in the previous consideration of the applicant's case by the Army Board for Correction of Military Records (ABCMR) in Docket Number AR20090005542, on 20 August 2009. 2. The DA Form 2496-1 provided by the applicant is new evidence that requires Board consideration. 3. The original Board determined that the available evidence of record failed to show that he had ever qualified for or was awarded MOS 45J. The Board further determined that the applicant had not met the qualifications for award of the Basic Aviation Badge. 4. The DA Form 2496-1 provided by the applicant indicates that he received an aircraft orientation in fifteen different areas. However, the form is undated, it shows no unit or organization, it is undated along each of the fifteen subject areas, and it does not indicate his flying status. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: 1. The applicant contends his military records should be corrected to show he was awarded MOS 45J and that he was awarded the Basic Aviation Badge. 2. The applicant's new evidence does not sufficiently show that he qualified for award of the Basic Aviation Badge. Furthermore, he has not provided any additional evidence of convincing argument showing that he was qualified for and awarded MOS 45J. 3. In view of the above, the applicant's request f\should be denied.
