BOARD DATE: 24 September 2009 DOCKET NUMBER: AR20090007873 THE BOARD CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE: 1. Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any). 2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any). THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant requests that her records be corrected to show her foreign service in Qatar. 2. The applicant states that she served in an imminent danger pay area (Qatar) and it is not annotated on her DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty). 3. The applicant provides a copy of her DD Form 214 and Permanent Orders 298-501 in support of this application. CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant's record shows that she enlisted in the Regular Army on 6 January 2004. 2. Permanent Orders 298-501, U.S. Army Air Defense Artillery Center and Fort Bliss, Fort Bliss, TX, dated 25 October 2006, shows that the 3rd Battalion, 43rd Air Defense Artillery, was deployed to Doha, Qatar, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The additional instructions show that the applicant is listed as a Soldier assigned to that unit. 3. On 10 May 2007, the applicant was honorably released from active duty after completing a total of 3 years, 4 months, and 5 days of active military service. 4. A member of the Army Board for Correction of Military Records staff contacted the Defense Finance and Accounting Service which confirmed that the applicant was deployed to Qatar from 27 October 2006 to 21 December 2006. 5. Army Regulation 635-5 (Separation Documents) establishes the standardized policy for preparing and distributing the DD Form 214. The regulation states, in pertinent part, that the purpose of the separation document is to provide the individual with documentary evidence of his or her military service. It is important that information entered on the form should be complete and accurate. 6. Army Regulation 635-5 also states that for an active duty Soldier deployed with his or her unit during their continuous period of active service, the statement "SERVICE IN (NAME OF COUNTRY DEPLOYED) FROM (inclusive dates for example, YYYYMMDD-YYYYMMDD)" will be entered in item 18 (Remarks). DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: The evidence of record shows that the applicant served in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Qatar. Therefore, she is entitled to have her records corrected to show "SERVICE IN QATAR FROM 20061027-20061221."
