Application for correction of military records (with supporting documents provided, if any). 2. Military Personnel Records and advisory opinions (if any). THE APPLICANT'S REQUEST, STATEMENT, AND EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant requests correction of item 12a (Date Entered AD [Active Duty] This Period) of his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) to show 4 September 2002 instead of 5 December 2006. 2. The applicant states that his entry date is 4 September 2002 and his DD Form 1966/1 (Record of Military Processing - Armed Forces of the United States) and DA Form 3286-59 (Statement for Enlistment) show this date. 3. The applicant provides copies of his DA Form 3286-59, DD Form 1966/1, and DD Form 214 in support of his application. CONSIDERATION OF EVIDENCE: 1. The applicant's enlistment contract, dated 4 September 2002, shows he enlisted in the Regular Army on 4 September 2002 for a period of 4 years. On 5 December 2006, he was released from active duty. 2. Item 12a on the applicant's DD Form 214 shows the entry "2006 12 05" [5 December 2006]. Item 12b (Separation Date This Period) of his DD Form 214 also shows the entry "2006 12 05." Item 12c (Net Active Service This Period) of his DD Form 214 shows the entry "0004 03 02" [4 years, 3 months, and 2 days]. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS: The evidence of record shows the applicant enlisted on 4 September 2002 and was released from active duty on 5 December 2006 for a total of 4 years, 3 months, and 2 days which is properly reflected in item 12c of his DD Form 214.
