2. The applicant requests his records be corrected to show entitlement to the Bronze Star Medal (BSM) and provides a copy of the appropriate citation. 3. On 18 August 1969, he was inducted into the Army of the United States. He completed his required training and was awarded military occupational specialty 91A (Medical Specialist). 4. During the period 11 July 1970-8 July 1971, he served in the Republic of Vietnam (RVN). 5. On 9 July 1971, he was honorably separated under Army Regulation 635-200, based on being an overseas returnee without sufficient time remaining to be cost effective in reassigning to another military installation. His Report of Separation indicates that he had 1 year, 11 months and 11 days of creditable service and 11 days of lost time. 6. On 26 October 1971, the applicant was notified by the Commander, Army Reserve Personnel Center (ARPERCEN) that his former commander had awarded him the Air Medal (AM) for his service in the RVN. CONCLUSIONS: 1. The evidence of record indicates that the applicant is entitled to award of the BSM and his record should be corrected accordingly. 2. The award of the AM should be made an official part of his record. 3. In view of the foregoing, his record should be corrected as shown below. RECOMMENDATION: That all of the Department of the Army records related to this case be corrected by showing his entitlement to the BSM and the AM.
