2. The applicant requests that his DD Form 214, Report of Transfer or Discharge, be corrected to reflect that he was separated in pay grade E-4. 3. He states that the discharge should be corrected for the benefit of his descendants. 4. His DD Form 214 shows that he was discharged on 30 July 1963 in pay grade E-3. However, a search of morning reports for his unit of assignment prior to discharge disclosed that on 26 December 1962 he was promoted to pay grade E-4 per paragraph 1, of order number 33. While a copy of the order is not available in the record, several other orders in the record, such as the order awarding him the Good Conduct Medal, reflect his grade as E-4. Similarly, his separation medical examination lists him as serving in pay grade E-4. CONCLUSIONS: 1. Documentation in his military records appears to establish that his pay grade prior to separation from active duty was E-4. 2. In view of the foregoing, the applicant’s records should be corrected as recommended below. RECOMMENDATION: That all of the Department of the Army records related to this case be corrected by showing that the individual concerned was promoted to pay grade E-4 on 26 December 1962 and that he continued to serve in that pay grade until his separation from active duty on 30 July 1963.
