APPLICANT REQUESTS: That his DD Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge, be corrected to reflect that he was awarded the Southwest Asia Service Medal (SWASM). APPLICANT STATES: That he served in Saudi Arabia and received the SWASM but the SWASM is not listed on his DD Form 214. EVIDENCE OF RECORD: The applicant's military records show: He enlisted in the Regular Army for 4 years on 28 April 1988 and served 2 years in Baumholder, Germany. He was honorably discharged on 27 April 1992. His DD Form 214 reflects that he was awarded the Overseas Service Ribbon, among other awards, but there is no entry reflecting the SWASM or the Kuwait Liberation Medal, two awards that are normally given for service in Saudi Arabia and/or Southwest Asia. Moreover, there is no indication in the available records to show that he served in Southwest Asia either in a unit deployment status, during his tour in Germany, or on a separate temporary duty basis. DISCUSSION: Considering all the evidence, allegations, and information presented by the applicant, together with the evidence of record, applicable law and regulations, it is concluded: 1. The applicant has provided no evidence and the record contains no evidence to establish that he should be awarded the SWASM. 2. In view of the foregoing, there appears to be no basis for granting the applicant’s request. DETERMINATION: The applicant has failed to submit sufficient relevant evidence to demonstrate the existence of probable error or injustice.
