2. The applicant requests correction of his military records by amending his 8 February 1995 reenlistment contract to show that he reenlisted with entitlement to a selective reenlistment bonus (SRB) of 1A. 3. The applicant states that at the time of his reenlistment on 8 February 1995, he was informed that he was not entitled to receive an SRB because he was not assigned to an airborne “P” position. However, he reenlisted for assignment to Fort Bragg, North Carolina and upon his arrival, was assigned to an airborne position. 4. The applicant’s military records indicate that he was awarded a Parachutist Badge on 24 January 1992 upon successful completion of training at Fort Benning, Georgia. 5. His military records show that after serving 3 years, 6 months, and 7 days of total active service, the applicant, while serving at Fort Benning, Georgia, reenlisted on 8 February 1995 in military occupational specialty (MOS) 88M2P, in the pay grade of E-5 for a period of 3 years and for assignment to Fort Bragg. His contract showed “no bonus entitlement.” 6. The Total Army Personnel Command (PERSCOM), in a comment to this Board, advised that an SRB-1A was in effect for MOS 88M with skill qualification identifier “P” for soldiers who were assigned to authorized airborne positions. The PERSCOM indicated that the applicant reenlisted for assignment to Fort Bragg and was immediately assigned to an airborne position; therefore, his request should be approved. CONCLUSIONS: 1. The applicant was reenlisted without a bonus entitlement that has resulted in an injustice to him in that a bonus was available and he was qualified to receive it. 2. Accordingly, it would be equitable and just to correct the applicant’s records to show that he was authorized to receive the SRB-1A that was in effect at the time he reenlisted on 8 February 1995. RECOMMENDATION: That all of the Department of the Army records related to this case be corrected by amending the 8 February 1995 reenlistment contract of the individual concerned to show that he was entitled to receive an SRB-1A in MOS 88M2P.
