1.  The applicant request correction of his DD Form 214 (Armed Forces of The United States Report of Transfer or Discharge).  The applicant states in effect, that item 
25 (Education and Training Completed) should show that he completed the Warrant Officer Rotary Wing Aircraft Course (WORWAC) in 1969 instead of 1970 and that item 22a on his DD Form 214 should be corrected to show 9 months of net service this period instead of 4 months and 18 days.

2.  He was born on 3 August 1941.  He completed 12 years of formal education.  On 25 January 1960, the applicant enlisted in the Regular Army for 3 years.  He completed the required training and was awarded military occupational specialty 712.17 (Stenographer).  On 24 January 1963, the applicant was honorably released after serving 3 years of active honorable service.  The highest grade he achieved was pay grade E-4.  The applicant was transferred to the United States Army Reserve.  Sometime later, the applicant was  transferred to the United States Army National Guard for the state of Virginia, however, particulars are missing from his file.  On 12 September 1969, the applicant was ordered to active duty for training, in pay grade WO1.  The applicant’s military records indicates that he completed the WORWAC On 15 June 1970.   

3.  On 17 June 1970, the applicant was honorably released from active military service under the provisions of Army Regulation 135-173.  He served 9 months and 5 days of honorable active service.

CONCLUSIONS:

1.  The applicant requested that item 25 (Education and Training Completed) should be corrected to show that he completed the WORWAC in 1969 instead of 1970.  The evidence of record shows that the applicant began the WORWAC on 
12 September 1969, however he did not complete the WORWAC until 15 June 1970, therefore, the date on the applicant’s DD Form 214 is correct. 

2.  The applicant also requested that item 22a (The Net Service This Period) be corrected.  Upon further review of the applicant’s file it was determined that he was ordered to active duty on 12 September 1969 and remained on active duty until 17 June 1970.  He completed 9 months and 5 days of net active service.

3.  In consideration of the foregoing, it would be appropriate to correct the records but only as recommended below. 

RECOMMENDATION:

1.  That all of the Department of the Army records related to this case be corrected by issuing a DD Form 215 (Corrections to the DD Form 214), Report of Transfer or Discharge by correcting item 22a to read 9 months and 5 days of net service this period. 

2.  That so much of the application as is in excess of the foregoing be denied.
