2. The applicant requests, in effect, the addition of a military occupational specialty (MOS) on his DD Form 214 (Report of Separation from Active Duty) to reflect reconnaissance training/status. 3. The applicant states that he was selected, after receiving an advanced promotion, to undergo 1 year of training in Army reconnaissance. He completed his training, but failed to notice the appropriate MOS on his DD Form 214. 4. The applicant enlisted in the Regular Army, in pay grade E-1, effective 28 April 1972. He was advanced to pay grades E-2 and E-3 effective 14 August and 26 September 1972, respectively. He was awarded primary MOS (PMOS) 11B10 (Light Weapons Infantryman) effective 26 September 1972. His DA Form 20 (Enlisted Qualification Record) shows that he was performing duties as a Scout Observer. 5. Unit Orders 2, dated 4 January 1974, indicate that he was advanced to pay grade E-4 and awarded 11B20 as his PMOS effective 2 January 1974. On 15 May 1974, he was awarded 63B20 (Wheel Vehicle Mechanic) as his secondary MOS (SMOS). 6. His Official Military Personnel File fails to show that he was awarded any other MOS’s. 7. The applicant’s DD Form 214 shows that he was honorably released from active duty on 28 April 1975, in pay grade E-4; that the entry “11B10 Lt Wpns Inf 72/09/26” was shown in item 16a (Primary Specialty Number and Title); and the entry “63B20 Wheel Vehicle Mechanic 74/05/15” was shown in item 16b (Secondary Specialty Number and Title). CONCLUSIONS: 1. The evidence of record indicates that the applicant was awarded 11B10 as his PMOS effective 26 September 1972, 11B20 as his PMOS effective 2 January 1974, and 63B20 as his SMOS effective 15 May 1974. Therefore, an error was made by Department personnel in item 16a on his DD Form 214 for the period ending 28 April 1975. 2. There is no evidence that the applicant was awarded any other MOS in the available records. 3. In view of the foregoing, it would be appropriate to correct the applicant’s records, but only as recommended below. RECOMMENDATION: 1. That all of the Department of the Army records related to this case be corrected by changing item 16a of the DD Form 214 for the period ending on 28 April 1975 of the individual concerned to show “11B20 Lt Wpns Inf 74/02/02.” 2. That so much of the application as is in the excess of the foregoing be denied. BOARD VOTE: GRANT AS STATED IN RECOMMENDATION GRANT FORMAL HEARING DENY APPLICATION CHAIRPERSON
