In effect, the applicant requests that his DD Form 214 (Report of Separation from Active Duty) be corrected to show his rank as SSG (Staff Sergeant), his pay grade as E-6, and his secondary specialty as 94Z50, Food Service Supervisor, and his related civilian occupation, Food Service Supervisor. 3. The applicant was promoted to Staff Sergeant E-6 on 25 April 1972, and was awarded the primary specialty of 94B40 (Mess Steward). He was awarded a secondary specialty of 94Z50, Food Service Supervisor, effective 14 February 1974. 4. An enlisted evaluation data report of 16 September 1974 shows that the applicant was evaluated as a Staff Sergeant E-6 in his secondary specialty of 94Z50 in May 1974. 5. Orders dated 10 September 1975 reassigning the applicant to the Fort Dix, New Jersey transfer station for separation processing show his rank and primary specialty as SSG and 94B40, respectively. 6. The applicant’s enlisted qualification record shows his rank as SSG, his primary specialty as 94B40, food service specialist, and his secondary specialty as 94Z50, food service supervisor. His principal duty and specialty is shown as Mess Steward, MOS (military occupational specialty) 94B40. 7. The applicant’s leave and earning statement for the period 1-30 November 1975 show his pay grade as E-6. 8. A senior enlisted evaluation report, authenticated by the applicant’s rater, indorser, and reviewer on 1 December 1975 show his rank as SSG, his primary specialty as 94B40, and his secondary specialty as 94Z40. 9. Orders dated 4 December 1975 published by Headquarters, Fort Dix, discharging the applicant from the Army on 4 December 1975 show his rank and specialty as SGT and 94B30, respectively. 10. The applicant was discharged at Fort Dix on 4 December 1975. His rank and pay grade on his DD Form 214 are shown as SGT E-5, with a date of rank shown as 25 April 1972, the date he was promoted to SSG E-6. The applicant’s primary specialty is shown as 94B30, food service specialist, and his secondary specialty as 94Z30, food service specialist, with an award date of 14 February 1974, the date he was awarded the secondary specialty of 94Z50. 11. Army Regulation 611-201, then in effect, provides the enlisted military occupational specialty (MOS) classification structure for the Army, and prescribes the standards of grade authorization for each MOS. The standards of grade authorization for MOS 94Z50, food service supervisor, is Sergeant First Class, pay grade E-7. The authorization for MOS 94B40, food service sergeant, is also pay grade E-7; for MOS 94B40, first cook, pay grade E-6, and for MOS 94B40, chief meatcutter, pay grade E-6. The related civilian occupation for MOS 94Z50 is kitchen supervisor. CONCLUSIONS: 1. The applicant was promoted to Staff Sergeant E-6 and awarded both the primary MOS of 94B40 and the secondary MOS of 94Z50. He was evaluated as an E-6 in his secondary MOS of 94Z50 in May 1974. The applicant’s qualification record show his rank and specialties as Staff Sergeant, 94B40 and 94Z50, respectively. His principal duty is shown as a mess steward, MOS 94B40. The applicant’s pay record through the end of November 1975 show his pay grade as E-6, as does his evaluation report of 1 December 1975. 2. The related civilian occupation of kitchen supervisor as shown on the applicant’s DD Form 214 is correct. 3. The applicant’s DD Form 214 should be changed to show his rank as SSG, his pay grade as E-6, his primary specialty 94B40, and his secondary specialty, 94Z50. 4. In view of the foregoing findings and conclusions, it would be appropriate to correct the applicant’s records as recommended below. RECOMMENDATION: 1. That all of the Department of the Army records related to this case be corrected by issuing the individual concerned a corrected DD Form 214 showing his rank as SSG, pay grade as E-6, primary specialty, 94B40, and secondary specialty, 94Z50. 2.
