2.  The applicant requests, in effect, correction of his military records by showing in item 11 (Primary Specialty Number, Title, and Years and Months in Specialty) on his DD Form 214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) for the period ending on 21 August 1985 that his primary specialty was 67V10 (Observation/Scout Helicopter Repairer) instead of primary specialty 67N10 (Utility Helicopter Repairer).

3.  On 13 September 1984, the applicant enlisted in the Army National Guard of the United States, in pay grade E-1, for 8 years, for training in military occupational specialty 67V10.  An alternate training military occupational specialty was 67N10.

4.  The applicant’s DA Form 2-1 (Personnel Qualification Record-Part II) indicates that the applicant’s military occupational specialty was 67N00 during basic and advanced individual training.  However, it also shows that his military occupational specialty was 67V10 effective 21 August l985, and that he attended and completed the Observation/Scout Helicopter Repairer course for 8 weeks in 1985.

5.  Orders, dated 24 June 1985, indicate that the applicant would be awarded military occupational specialty 67V10 and the Aircraft Crewmember Badge upon successful completion of 67V training.

6.  The applicant’s DD Form 214 indicates that he entered on active duty on 29 March 1985; that he was honorably released from active duty for training on 21 August 1985; that he attended the Utility Helicopter Repair Course for 10 weeks; and that his primary specialty number was 67N10.

7.  Orders and other documents contained in the applicant’s Official Military Personnel File indicate that his military occupational specialty was 67V during the remainder of his service in the Army National Guard of the United States and the U.S. Army Reserve.


CONCLUSIONS:

1.  The evidence of record indicates that the applicant enlisted in the Army National Guard of the United States for training in military occupational specialty 67V.

2.  Although the applicant’s DA Form 2-1 indicates that he completed basic training and may have completed a portion of his advanced individual training in military occupational specialty 67N, it also indicates that his military occupational specialty was 67V on 21 August 1985, and that he had attended the Observation/Scout Helicopter Repairer course for 8 weeks and completed it in 1985.  Therefore, errors were made by Department personnel on his DD Form 214 for the period ending on 21 August 1985 in items 11 and 14 (Military Education (Course Title, Number Weeks, and Month and Year Completed)).

3.  In view of the foregoing, it would be appropriate to correct the applicant’s military records as recommended below.

RECOMMENDATION:

That all of the Department of the Army records related to this case be corrected:

	a.  by showing in item 11 on the DD Form 214 for the period ending on 21 August 1985 of the individual concerned that his primary specialty number, title, and years and months in specialty were “67V10 Observation/Scout Helicopter Repairer, 8 weeks;” and

	b.  by showing in item 14 on the DD Form 214 for the period ending on 21 August 1985 that his military education was “Observation/Scout Helicopter Repairer, 8 weeks, August 1985.”
